On Saturday 2 March guide and art historian Cilia Batenburg will take you through the exhibition ‘stil‘. The tour ends with the film ‘In Pursuit of Silence’. The film shows silence as a need for life that is under pressure. What are the harmful effects of structural noise pollution on our health? In an exploration strip around the world, the filmmaker looks for the nature of silence and captures it in various forms. Is there pure silence? Why are we looking for it or are we running away from it? Through forests, a tea ceremony in Japan, Zen practitioners and a young American who for a year traverses the USA in absolute silence, the film investigates our relationship with silence and the impact of sound.
